Editor's Choice: Tri-Cities holiday lights winner
Q: How long have you been decorating your house like this?
Dale Evensen: 18 years. As long as we've lived here.
Q: What inspired you to go all out with your decorations?
Dale Evensen: We're Christmas nuts. We had young kids and every year we would add something. My youngest is now decorating her own house across town.
Q: How many hours does it take to put up the display?
Dale Evensen: I work on it for three weeks. It takes more than 50 hours.
Q: How many strings of lights are involved?
Dale Evensen: I couldn't tell you. I don't know. I have 10 bins of lights. I probably have about 1,000 lights on just the reindeer on the roof.
Chris Evensen: Between 10,000 to 20,000 lights probably.
Q: How much does your electric bill spike in December?
Chris Evensen: Last year we figured it added $200 a month.
Dale Evensen: I turn them on at Thanksgiving, and they stay on through the middle of January.
Q: What do your neighbors think of your display?
Chris Evensen: They say, "We love it."
Dale Evensen: It's been all very positive. I even have lights on my neighbor's trees and his fence. I'm shaming them all into putting up more.
