Antioch woman charged with aggravated domestic battery
An Antioch woman is facing domestic battery charges after police found her young relative was hurt, officials said.
Bridget M. Vaughn, 34, of the 300 block of Ida Avenue, was charged with domestic battery and aggravated domestic battery.
Antioch police were called to Vaughn's apartment last week for a report of a woman screaming; authorities said they found her "highly intoxicated" and holding a two-year-old relative. She told police she had been yelling at her ex-boyfriend on the phone.
The relative had redness on parts of her body, redness and bruising on her cheeks, scratches and a minor cut under one of her eyes, police said.
Authorities said there were many broken holiday ornaments on the floor of the home, and broken bowls and cups "strewed about." Besides two cellphones without back covers or batteries that were on the kitchen table, police said there were no other phones.
Vaughn was taken into custody for domestic battery, and her relative was taken to the hospital, the release said. The Department of Children and Family Services was also notified.
Vaughn told police she did not know how her relative was injured. She is being held at the Lake County jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.
