Rauner concert: Toby Keith, Buddy Guy, trio of politicians

A trio of Illinois state lawmakers and their Jimmy Buffett-inspired band will open a concert for country superstar Toby Keith and blues legend Buddy Guy next month at Republican Gov.-elect Bruce Rauner's inaugural concert.

Rauner announced the lineup Monday for the concert, which replaces the traditional inaugural ball.

State Rep. Mike Tryon, a Crystal Lake Republican, said the band, Boat Drink Caucus, formed a couple of years ago and includes Democratic Sen. Don Harmon from Oak Park and Rep. Chad Hays, a Catlin Republican.

The bipartisan band, which plays tropical-rock covers from the 1980s and '90s, has played open mic nights and some festivals in Illinois, but Keith and Guy are on a different level.

General admission tickets for the Jan. 12 concert in Springfield are going for $125.

"We're excited to be a part of it," Tryon said. "And we're excited we have a governor that likes that kind of music."
