Funeral Tuesday in Houston for ex-Mayor Lanier
HOUSTON (AP) - Former Houston Mayor Bob Lanier (luh-NEER') will be laid to rest in the city he led during the 1990s.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. CST Tuesday for Lanier, who died Saturday of natural causes. He was 89.
The service was scheduled at the Jasek Chapel of the Geo. H. Lewis & Sons funeral home. Burial will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
Lanier was a developer when he was elected Houston's mayor in 1991, then served two additional terms. He was barred by term limits from seeking a fourth term in 1997.
