Yakima official suspended for too many texts

YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) - The head of Yakima's Utilities and Engineering Department has been suspended for two weeks without pay for using her work phone to send too many personal messages.

Debbie Cook sent about 1,300 texts over a year.

City Manager Tony O'Rourke tells KIMA (http://bit.ly/1xtH2Vh) it's not necessarily the number of personal texts but the time Cook was taking from her job. He says he hopes it's a lesson to others.

O'Rourke says Cook is a good employee otherwise. She returns to work on Monday.
