Funeral service set for former Decatur mayor
DECATUR, Ala. (AP) - A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday for former Decatur Mayor Bill Dukes.
Dukes died Thursday after a lengthy illness. He was 87.
Dukes served as Decatur mayor for 18 years ending in 1994. After that Duke served in the Alabama House of Representatives for 16 years.
The Kentucky native retired in 2010. He was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease three years ago.
Dukes is survived by his wife of 66 years, Juanita, and four children. His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church of Decatur.
