Peterson, Libertyville prevail at Lake Zurich

Libertyville's boys basketball team broke out of its slump in a big way Wednesday night.

Led by Conor Peterson's 19 points, the Wildcats placed four scorers in double figures in a 69-63 upset of host Lake Zurich, snapping a three-game losing streak.

Libertyville, which improved to 4-4 and 1-3 in the North Suburban Lake Division, outscored Lake Zurich (7-2, 2-2) 15-10 in the third quarter to take a 48-43 lead into the fourth. The score was tied 33-33 at halftime.

Ben Kimpler added a season-high 17 points for Libertyville, which also received 12 points apiece from Joe Borcia and Paul Steinhaus.

Lake Zurich was led by Mike Travlos' 25 points. Nick Meyer chipped in 15 points for the Bears, who lost their second game in a row.

Lake Forest 67, Mundelein 42: Lorenzo Edwards scored 19 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, as the host Scouts improved to 8-0 and 4-0 in the North Suburban Lake.

Mundelein fell to 0-9 and 0-4 in the division.
