Police killings no excuse for riots

Police killings no excuse for riots

The AP reprint in today's paper, "Data on police killings scarce," is just one more example of the disgustingly biased liberal journalism that seems to pervade today's "mainstream media." A more real story would seem to be how does the black community reduce its crime rates and respect others (including cops)?

The Herald would be a better newspaper if you quit reprinting the AP's nonsense.

Why isn't there a balanced coverage comparing black men killing (black and white) police or the thousands of black men killing other black men? Over the past several months since Ferguson, several white police officers have been killed, mostly by black men with very little "reporting."

There are probably some bad cops that need to be disciplined or replaced, but that is no excuse for rioting and blaming society for the real problems in the black community.

Police, black and white, are in mortal danger every day, especially in black neighborhoods. There is a real need within the minority communities for individuals to focus and work on changing their own circumstances and attitudes before they start blaming others. That means getting an education, finding a job, acting responsibility and reducing the number of illegitimate children instead of collecting welfare.

Michael Brown was a big bully who robbed a store, a misdemeanor; punched a cop, that's a felony; and then the attacked the cop, that's mortal danger.

The kid in Cleveland refused to cooperate and pulled what look like a real gun. What is the cop supposed to do, wait to see if the gun is real and the cop is dead?

In New York, maybe a different action should have been taken against the cop. It still is no excuse for rioting or a conclusion that the problem is anywhere but within the black community itself.
