Unclaimed ashes to be scattered on Puget Sound
TACOMA, Wash. (AP) - The Pierce County medical examiner plans to scatter the unclaimed ashes of 23 people on the waters of Puget Sound.
Dr. Thomas Clark says many of the cremated remains are decades old and no relatives can be found or they're not interested.
So, on Thursday, the sheriff's patrol boat will carry the remains to an undisclosed location on the sound where fire department chaplains will say a few words before the ashes are scattered.
