Father of Texas Congressman Hensarling dies

TEMPLE, Texas (AP) - Texas Congressman Jeb Hensarling's father has died.

Charles "Chase" Hensarling of Cameron died Sunday at a hospital in Temple. He was 86.

The death was announced Tuesday in a statement from the office of Hensarling, who chairs the House Financial Services Committee. No immediate cause of death was released.

Chase Hensarling was born in Stephenville. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1949, serving in the Corps of Cadets and later the Army. He married Ann Brock in 1953. Hensarling spent his life working in the poultry business.

Survivors include his wife, Jeb Hensarling and another son, James, plus a daughter, Carolyn Hensarling Arizpe, and their families.

Services will held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church in Cameron.
