• Steel Beam Theatre has auditions for Dan LeFranc's drama "The Big Meal" from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, at 111 W. Main St., St. Charles. The eight actors cast play a total of 26 characters over a time span of nearly 80 years. Three men and three women are sought between the ages of 20 through the 60s. • GreenMan Theatre has auditions for Carolyn Thomas-Davidoff's TV sitcom spoof "A Very Grady Murder" from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, and from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at First United Methodist Church at 232 S. York Road, Elmhurst. No appointments are required to audition, and there is no pay. Auditions consist of cold readings from the script and some possible improvisation. • Oakton Community College has open auditions for Melanie Marnich's drama "These Shining Lives" from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 15 and 16, at 1600 E. Golf Road, Des Plaines. The play is based upon the tragic true-life events tied to factory workers of Radium Dial Company in the 1920s. • TownSquare Players has open auditions for its March 2015 production of the 2006 Broadway musical "The Drowsy Chaperone" from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 15 and 16, in the Green Room of the Woodstock Opera House, 121 E. • The Windy City Gay Chorus and the "Windy City Treble Quire" has auditions for its upcoming spring concert featuring "Tyler's Suite," a choral work celebrating the life of late college student Tyler Clementi. • Geneva Park District's Playhouse 38 seeks adults and kids over the age of 6 to audition for a tuition-based production of the musical "Willy Wonka" at Sunset Community Center, 710 Western Ave., Geneva.
