Wrong-way driver killed I-69 crash identified
FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Authorities have identified a 23-year-old Fort Wayne man who was killed after police say he was driving the wrong way on Interstate 69 and crashed head-on with a semitrailer.
The Allen County coroner's office says Kaleb Cox died in the crash about 3:15 a.m. Sunday. The sheriff's department says he was driving an SVU northbound in I-69's southbound lanes, causing a crash that closed those lanes a few miles southeast of Fort Wayne for more than five hours.
The driver of the semi was taken to a hospital in fair condition. Police say no passengers were in either vehicle.
Police are waiting for toxicology test results as the crash remains under investigation.
