Armed woman robs Libertyville bank

A bank in downtown Libertyville was robbed of an undetermined amount of cash Monday morning by a woman who displayed a small handgun, police said.

Libertyville police responded to a call of a holdup alarm about 11:23 a.m. at Harris Bank, 354 N. Milwaukee Ave. While en route, police were told an armed robbery had occurred about five minutes earlier and the offender had fled the area.

Police said a woman entered the bank, handed the teller a note demanding money and displayed a small silver handgun. No injuries to bank employees or other customers were reported, according to police. Neighboring businesses in the downtown area have been canvassed to determine if anyone saw the robber, police said.

Police said the woman is a dark-skinned black female, in her mid- to late 30s, wearing a gray jacket with a gray hoodie, dark pants, black and white tennis shoes and a multicolored scarf.

Libertyville police in conjunction with the FBI are investigating. Anyone having/needing information should contact Libertyville police investigations at (847) 362-8310 or the FBI at (312) 421-6700.
