Fourth straight win for Schaumburg

After starting the season with a pair of losses, Schaumburg's boys basketball team has found the winning groove.

The Saxons worked overtime Saturday at the Ken Carter Gymnasium in Arlington Heights before posting a 59-54 victory over Hersey.

Brendan Parker (18 points), Jason Schoo (13) and Charlie Quilco (10) were top scorers for the Saxons (4-2).

Payton Haas and Joseph Coffaro each scored 18 points to pace Hersey (3-3).

Palatine 66, Buffalo Grove 50: Senior RJ Smith (24 points), junior Matt Ulrich (11) and senior Justin Chaney (11) led the visiting Pirates, who improved to 5-1 after their MSL crossover triumph.

Smith's big night included an 8-for-9 performance from the free-throw line along with 8 field goals.

Top scorers for BG (2-4) were Joey Pinakidis (9 points), Connor Reid (8) and Connor May (9), who connected for a pair of 3-pointers.

Hoffman Estates 63, Wheeling 57: Junior Jorden Thornton scored a game-high 25 points for visiting Hoffman Estates (1-3), while classmate Brandon Hall chipped in 15.

Wheeling (2-4) was paced by senior Zola Arogundade (15 points) and classmate Jake Jordan (14).

Wheeling 64, Buffalo Grove 47: In Friday night's late action, Wheeling (2-4, 1-0) won its MSL East opener as Ola Arogunade scored a game-high 18 points followed by senior Alex Karras (10) and Patrick junior Szpir (9).

The Bison (2-4, 0-1) received a team-high 11 points from senior Hans Haller.

Christian Liberty 43, IMSA 40: Also on Friday night, Paul Weiss paced Christian Liberty Academy with 13 points and 15 rebounds. Sam Silva added 11 points including a pair of 3-pointers and Ben Daniel chipped in 8 for the Chargers (1-5) who gained their first win of the season.
