Girls' math, science conference Feb. 7

Registration is now open for the fifth annual GEMS (Girls in Engineering, Math and Science) Conference from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Feb. 7, at Conant High School in Hoffman Estates.

The conference is for fifth- and sixth-grade girls and their parents in Palatine Township Elementary District 15, Schaumburg Township Elementary District 54 or any private schools within the Palatine-Schaumburg High School District 211 attendance area.

Girls will learn about careers in engineering, math and science by actively participating in hands-on sessions. These activities will be taught by women in fields such as structural design, polymers, technology, geology and mathematics.
