Police: Peoria standoff ends without injuries

PEORIA, Ill. - Police have arrested a man after a nearly seven-hour standoff at a house in Peoria ended without injuries.

The (Peoria) Journal Star reports police say the standoff ended Sunday evening after the man claimed to be armed and barricaded himself in the house earlier in the day. Police said they were in communication with him over the phone throughout the afternoon.

Capt. Mike Scally says officers responded to a report of a domestic dispute between a man and woman. Police say the woman fled the scene when officers arrived and the man went inside.

Special response team members later arrived at the scene and dressed in body armor and helmets. Scally says about 30 officers responded.

Police haven't identified the man. It's unclear if he's been charged.
