Two injured after SUV crashes into tree in Villa Park

Two men were taken to the hospital after their SUV crashed into a tree in Villa Park early Friday, fire officials said.

Paramedics were called about 4:50 a.m. to Plymouth Street and Westmore Avenue, where they found a vehicle with heavy front-end damage, authorities said.

It took firefighters about 20 minutes to free one of the passengers. Fire officials declined to say their injuries.

By 7:45 a.m., a stretch of Plymouth remained closed while police continue to investigate what caused the crash.
