Community Rises to the Occasion for 11th Annual Palatine Food Drive

Residents and businesses throughout Palatine have clearly embraced a local tradition to kick-off the holiday season. For the 11th consecutive year, collection boxes for the Palatine Food Drive were filled beyond capacity, all for the benefit of families in need served by the Palatine Township Food Pantry.

The community-wide effort, run by Lavelle Law Charities, began in early October and wrapped up Monday, November 24th as attorneys and staff of Lavelle Law picked up donations from 19 locations throughout town and delivered them to the food pantry. "Once again local families and workers shared their generosity with donations of food and supplies like diapers and formula," said Heather Thorsen, Food Drive Coordinator. "It was clearly one of the largest collections we have had since starting the Palatine Food Drive and the hundreds of men, women and children who rely on the Palatine Township food pantry will know that they are not forgotten this holiday season."

Started in 2003, the Palatine Food Drive has coalesced businesses and government offices as drop-off spots with the Lavelle team doing all of the leg work to set up boxes, collect donations and personally deliver them to the food pantry. "On behalf of everyone at Lavelle Law, and those in need this year, we'd like to thank our sponsors, the community members that hosted drop-off locations and the many residents who contributed to the cause," said Thorsen. "While we hope over time to see less people in need, as long as the Township food pantry remains open we will do our part each fall to provide them with abundant supplies."
