Sculptors can submit designs for library foundation grant
A Dunham Fund grant that is making possible the "Dream Catcher," an illuminating sculpture that portrays the written word from our earliest beginnings to the high-tech world of today, also will provide for the design and fabrication of a sculpture for the plaza outside the Richard and Gina Santori Public Library's west entrance.
The Aurora Public Library Foundation is inviting sculptors to submit a design to create an outdoor sculpture with the theme "Art for Technology" in mind.
To access complete guidelines and a photo showing the approximate placement of the sculpture, visit the foundation's website at www.aurorapubliclibrary.org/art-contest-rfp/. All proposals must be received by Sunday, Nov. 30.
Digital design proposals may be submitted to Campaign Liaison Lea Ann Skogsberg at laskog@aurora.lib.il.us.
Large digital files that cannot be emailed must be saved on a flash drive and delivered to Skogsberg. Those not submitting in a digital format may call Skogsberg at (630) 264-4124 to schedule an appointment to submit their design.
The artist will be chosen and the sculpture will be commissioned by Dec. 20. The sculpture is to be unveiled in early May 2015. A specific date will be identified after collaboration with the artist.
Contact Skogsberg with questions.
The Aurora Public Library Foundation also is holding an art contest for four age groups (children through adults) for artwork to be hung inside the library. Information on this contest, which also is being made possible through a Dunham Fund grant, is available on the website.
The Dunham Fund announced a $250,000 grant in August to bring art and education to the library.
