Police: Man arrested in fatal Springfield shooting
Springfield police say an anonymous tip has led to the arrest of a man wanted in a fatal shooting.
The State Journal-Register reports a U.S. Marshals Violent Crimes Task Force arrested the 28-year-old man Tuesday in the slaying of 41-year-old Kirk Hardy of Springfield. Hardy was riding his bicycle at about 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 7 when he was shot once in the shoulder. He died at an area hospital.
Police say the suspect and Hardy had been in an argument earlier that night.
Authorities also arrested a 30-year-old on possible charges including aiding and abetting a fugitive.
Neighborhood leaders called for an end to street violence last week during a march and prayer vigil where Hardy was shot.
