Buffalo Grove incident leads to power outage

A power outage lasted until Tuesday afternoon after a semitrailer truck hit a guy wire in Buffalo Grove, officials said.

The truck was traveling north on Buffalo Grove Road about 11 a.m. when it made a right on Short Aptakisic Road and hit a guy wire, which pulled down a power line pole and broke it in half, Buffalo Grove Fire Department Lt. Brian Beck said.

Because of the mishap, power lines also were broken at Lake Cook Road and Weiland Road, Beck said. No one was injured. Power was restored by about 2 p.m. Tuesday, officials said.
