BANA Knights donates gift boxes for kids overseas

On Nov. 2, the BANA Knights Big 10 Featherweight Team, boys ages 9 to 11, got together on a "bye" week for the team to put together gift boxes for children overseas.

They did this for Operation Christmas Child, a nationwide program started by Franklin Graham's Samaritan's Purse organization.

Children who have never received even one gift in their lives are blessed by these small gifts packed in shoe boxes. The boxes were packed with notebooks, crayons, small stuffed animals, soap, and toothbrushes.

The boys watched a short video explaining what the organization does and watched many children receive their gift boxes.

The BANA boys are lauded for donating enough to put together 30 boxes that will arrive in time for Christmas. The boxes will be taken to Christ Community Church in St. Charles and shipped out from there.

The BANA Knights are a travel youth tackle football team whose goal is to provide a competitive atmosphere while ensuring a safe and productive environment. Players will learn and apply principles of teamwork, discipline, dedication and sportsmanship.

Participation for the Knights is open to all youth ages 6-14 in Batavia, Aurora and North Aurora. Visit banayouthfootball.org.
