Sentencing delayed for Mundelein man convicted of intentionally causing fatal crash
Sentencing for a Mundelein man convicted of murder for intentionally causing a 2012 crash that killed a Round Lake Beach mother of three has been delayed until the end of the month.
Mark Oelerich, 23, was to be sentenced to prison by Judge James Booras early Monday, but attorneys requested additional time due to scheduling conflicts with key witnesses, attorneys said.
Booras set a new sentencing date for Nov. 26.
Oelerich was found guilty of killing Araceli Villasenor, 24, when he drove a Cadillac SUV over the centerline and into her Nissan on Cedar Lake Road in Round Lake. Villasenor's three children were injured in the Nov. 21, 2012 crash, two seriously.
In addition to murder, a jury also found Oelerich guilty on three counts of aggravated driving under the influence of drugs. Two of those counts were aggravated DUI causing great bodily harm, while the third was aggravated DUI that resulted in death.
Oelerich faces up to 60 years in prison.
