Coverage of youth project was valuable

I would like to compliment the Daily Herald for the fine coverage of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church youth project.

The project involved several teenagers and some adults who restored a long-forgotten cemetery that is almost a century old. This cemetery is called the Poor Farm Cemetery and was used as a resting place for folks who worked the land in return for a roof over their head.

The story illustrates that we have many young people who are willing to give their time and energy to serve others. Too many times, we hear only about the kids who have gone astray. It shows how the "traditional media" can effectively use modern technology to add to the impact of a message.

You provided information for a link to a video clip showing the purpose of the project, interviews with the adults and the teens and footage of the project in action.

This project was intentionally done to celebrate All Souls' Day where we remember those who have passed away. To my surprise the video showed two of my grandchildren who participated in this project. Can you imagine my surprise to see that one of my grandchildren spoke on the video about her great-grandmother who had a significant influence on her life? That person she spoke of was my mom.
