Pingree Grove launches comprehensive plan update

The village of Pingree Grove recently announced the kickoff of the process to create a new comprehensive plan.

You are invited to attend a community workshop from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, at the Cambridge Lakes Community Center, 1125 Wester Blvd.

The workshop is to be the first of several face-to-face community outreach events scheduled throughout the planning process. The purpose of this first workshop is to allow local residents and businesses to tell us what they think, before we begin making plans and recommendations.

The workshop will review the purpose of the Comprehensive Plan, the planning process to be undertaken, and the schedule for the study; and secure local views on problems, issues and potentials within the community.

The comprehensive plan is a community-based effort to guide future growth and development in Pingree Grove over the next 10-15 years. It will provide a foundation for decision-making based on community consensus, community vision, existing conditions and future potentials.

It will include communitywide plans for land use and development, growth and annexation, transportation and mobility, natural resources and open space, economic development, and community facilities. The plan will also include a detailed subarea plan for the Route 47 corridor.
