General motors faces 15 death claims in federal court

General Motors Co., which is settling at least 30 death claims related to faulty ignition switches, is facing 15 plaintiffs seeking compensation for fatalities, according to a filing yesterday in federal court in Manhattan. Some lawsuits are proceeding separately in other federal and state courts.

The Manhattan court has a total of 299 people suing GM over deaths and injuries. A judge today will hold a hearing on whether to combine some lawsuits into one and set a trial date.
