Buffalo Grove police grow beards for health

During the month of November, about 20 Buffalo Grove police officers will be growing facial hair in support of The Movember Foundation and their efforts to raise public awareness of prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health issues affecting men.

"These are significant health issues affecting our community and many of the officers on our team," said Chief Steve Casstevens. "We all know someone who has been afflicted by these terrible diseases and this is our way of making sure we don't lose focus on what really matters in life, our health and our families."

Several retired Buffalo Grove Police Officers have gone through treatment for these cancers. Last year, long time Fire and Police Commissioner Jerod Loeb lost his battle to stage 4 prostate cancer. More information is at moteam.co/danger-zone.
