Fire leaves Arlington Hts. home with $25,000 in damage

A fire that started in the kitchen of a two-story Arlington Heights home Saturday afternoon caused about $25,000 in damage, authorities said.

Firefighters were called about 2:30 p.m. to the blaze, contained to the kitchen of the home on the 2500 block of north Ridge Avenue, Arlington Heights Fire Lt. William Rodgers said. They spent about 15 minutes extinguishing the fire.

A resident, a man, was home at the time. There were no injuries to him or firefighters, Rodgers said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
