Herald right to question Yingling
The Daily Herald hit a home run with their endorsement for state House District 62, when they said Yingling lacked independence and voted to add another layer of government to Lake County.
Another well-known paper endorsed Yingling because he passed legislation to consolidate taxing bodies and pension reform. The Illinois General Assembly website is a great tool to fact check. Yingling passed three bills and none of them had anything to do with the consolidations of taxing bodies.
He has attempted to get legislation passed, but those bills have been unsuccessful or are stuck in the Rules Committee (a graveyard of poorly written bills). Yingling did support pension reform on the backs of our teachers after promising not to hurt them.
Thank you Daily Herald for your truthful research.
