Centrist Dold will be needed in next Congress
With midterm elections coming up on Tuesday, the structure of our government could be at a point of great change.
A trend in recent years has shown voters to elect representatives against the president's party as the presidency goes on. I believe the election next month will follow that trend and that the U.S. government will have a Republican-controlled House and Senate.
While this could mean blockage of many presidential initiatives, having both houses of Congress controlled by the same party could mean an end to partisan gridlock for the time being. With this possibility on the horizon, I think it is important for Illinois to have representatives in the majority party of both houses, mainly the Republican Bob Dold as representative for the 10th District in the House of Representatives.
Dold was ranked as one of the most centrist voters in the 112th Congress, something I believe means a lot in this era of party polarization.
Dold is willing to work to reach bipartisan solutions and across-the-aisle compromises, which will mean a lot with the looming possibility of a Republican controlled House and Senate, while a Democrat is still president.
