Quinn, Rauner talk jobs, early voting Friday
The candidates for Illinois governor are spending the final days before the Nov. 4 election at events in the Chicago area portraying themselves as the best choice for job creation.
Republican Bruce Rauner and running mate Evelyn Sanguinetti toured a cardboard company in Wheeling and encouraged workers to vote Tuesday. Sanguinetti used her Spanish-speaking abilities to encourage Latino voters at Crescent Cardboard to "vote so you'll be respected."
Rauner, a Winnetka businessman, has repeatedly called Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn a "failure" on jobs.
Quinn disputed those criticisms at an event with Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel. The two welcomed newly hired workers to the school safe-passage program that was expanded with state funds. Quinn says it's been a "good week" and contended he knows how to create jobs in Illinois.
