Libertyville third-graders get special visit on grandparents day
Students in third grade classes at Rockland Elementary School in Libertyville had a special visit Thursday with their grandparents.
Teachers Rebecca Wickboldt and Linda Snader held their annual grandparents day, when grandparents shared lunch with their grandkids and played a "then and now" game comparing how life was different for them when they were 8 years old.
Kids also shared stories they wrote to their grandparents, played a crossword game and spent time outside for recess.
"The kids are excited to show off their classroom and classmates to their grandparents," Snader said. She said this is one of the most anticipated events of the year for her students.
Grandparents day coincides with the kickoff of their third grade immigration unit for social studies.
"This is a time where kids will learn about their ancestry," Snader said.
