Beware of ads sponsored by PACs

Americans need to be careful reading the attack ads from political action committees. They are typical of the kind of "dark money" being spent by nonprofit groups that do not reveal their donors. The lies they tell to promote their chosen candidate are vicious and without merit.

However, it would behoove us all to pay attention to the ads that are so flagrant and leaning to one side with little or no transparency of the names of the donors. Only the fact that they have a lot of money to throw the election is enough to make us cringe. The Supreme Court decision in 2010 to allow for unlimited political spending by corporations opened the floodgates of big-money politicking.

Now Carl Rove, who was the instigator of the Iraq War and the one who pushed Bush into it, is running one of the PACs and, of course, spending tons of money to put the Republicans into the Senate. This after the voters have been so poorly served by this Congress. To give the Senate to the Republicans is a death wish. It is bad enough to have the House ruled by them and blocking every bill Obama has tried to get passed. The public does Obama an injustice blaming him for the lack of action in foreign affairs. He is trying to not send our young men and women into another war. But the warmongers are saying he is not effective. Remember President Wilson - the same was said about him before the first World War.

Voters, be smart and don't believe all that you read.
