Jackie's Magic food drive and magic show comes to Gurnee Nov. 1

The 11th annual Jackie's Magic Food Drive and magic show will take place Saturday, Nov. 1, at Warren Township High School O'Plaine Auditorium, 500 N. O'Plaine Road, Gurnee.

Doors open at 5:45 p.m. with close-up performers, balloon artists, a face painter, games for kids, and raffles. The 90-minute illusion show will begin at 7 p.m.

Jackie Stanislawski was a dynamic young woman whose limitless energy and overflowing enthusiasm touched the lives and hearts of everyone who knew her. When she was tragically killed in an auto accident in December, 2003, she was single-handedly sponsoring a food drive, utilizing her numerous civic and religious contacts.

Jackie's family and friends continued the tradition in her memory by creating the annual Jackie's Magic event.

Performing live onstage this year are Mark and Sue Holstein, Joe Diamond, Trent James, Anthony Stockton, Bill Cook (from the Showtime movie "Make Believe"), Chezaday, Trent Rivas, Jimmy Stanislawski and event organizer Jim Stanislawski, Jackie's father.

Admission is a donation of nonperishable food items or cash. All food and cash donations collected at the front door will benefit the Warren Township Food Pantry.

All of the money collected at the raffle will be donated to the Warren Transitional Students for students with special needs.

Donations can be dropped off until 10 p.m. Checks, payable to Warren Township, can be sent to Warren Township Center, 17801 Washington St., Gurnee, IL 60031; put "Jackie's Magic Food Drive" in the memo line.
