Kankakee County men killed in weekend shootings

Weekend shootings in Kankakee County have claimed the lives of two local men.

Police say Tashon Jones of St. Anne was shot multiple times at a bar near the Indiana state line early Saturday morning. Kankakee County Coroner Bob Gessner says the 24-year-old was pronounced dead at a local hospital at about 1:30 a.m.

Gessner says 20-year-old Johan Rowe of Kankakee died at a hospital Sunday morning after he was shot in the abdomen in a separate incident.

Police are still investigating both shooting deaths and are considering them to be homicides. Further information wasn't available as of Monday morning.

The Daily Journal reports the deaths marked the eighth and ninth slayings in the county this year.
