More than 1,000 attendees at Elk Grove Village manufacturing expo

Elk Grove Village officials reported Friday that more than 1,000 people attended this year's Made in Elk Grove Manufacturing & Technology Expo, a networking event for business owners. The expo on Tuesday had 93 exhibitors promoting their products inside an industrial building at 1925 Busse Road. U.S. Rep. Tammy Duckworth cut the ribbon to open the event and state Sen. Jim Oberweis, a candidate for U.S. Senate, also attended. Business Excellence Awards were given to three companies. The Innovation Award went to Crafts Technology, a tooling manufacturer that developed a new material technology to reduce a part of its production cycle. The Sustainability Award went to Lawrence Foods, a bakery that has reduced its electricity, natural gas and water usage. The Community Support Award was given to E-M Metal Fabricator, which has donated funds to a medical organization assisting those in need overseas, officials said.
