Mt. Prospect District 57 buys land near Westbrook School

Mount Prospect Elementary District 57 will acquire land adjacent to Westbrook School for Young Learners in order to add parking and improve traffic flow in and out of school grounds, particularly during drop-off and pickup times, officials said.

The district has already signed a contract for the parcel; it will take formal ownership of it in January. The purchase price was $315,000, officials said.

Traffic flow near the school has been a concern of parents for some time. Westbrook serves the district's youngest students, and the students' dismissal times vary by age.
