Man charged in Leyden Twp. hit-and-run

#MelrosePark man charged in #LeydenTownship hit-and-run

A man police say hit a bicyclist in Leyden Township on Saturday night and then drove away has been charged.

About 10 p.m., a 44-year-old man crossing Mannheim Road near Montana Avenue was hit by a black Ford Mustang that police said was speeding on southbound Mannheim Road. The bicyclist was taken to a hospital for treatment.

On Sunday, Cook County sheriff's police were told about a damaged black Ford Mustang in Northlake.

Emmanuel Garcia, 23, of Melrose Park was charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing injury and failure to report an accident involving injury.

He appeared in court Tuesday, where his bail was set at $6,000.
