Carpentersville's Trendy Tots resale shop to close in November

After three years of buying and selling fashionable children's clothing along the Randall Road corridor, Trendy Tots in Carpentersville is closing its doors for good.

Trendy Tots has been the place to go along the Randall Road corridor to sell your outgrown and unused children's clothing, and also to buy fashionable children's clothing at a good price.

Over the years, the business expanded its inventory and also began selling teens, women's and maternity clothing. Trendy Tots also always had a big stock of fun toys, popular books, fashionable shoes and all of the accessories kids would need to complete their outfits. Customers came from up and down the Randall Road corridor to check out the inventory at the business.

But Trendy Tots also was much more than just a resale shop. The business, at 7020 Huntley Road, also became somewhat of a community hub, where friends would go together to search out a great deal, to make some extra cash by selling their clothes and to chat with owner Tammi Rojek and her employees.

Rojek is sad to be closing the business on Saturday, Nov. 22. She said it's been a great run, and she's met so many great people along the way.

However, she said, this is a move that's best for her and her family right now.

“As a mother with four children, I am finding myself too often having to choose between my family and my business,” she said. “I have enjoyed Trendy Tots tremendously and it is bittersweet to be closing our doors.

“I am looking forward to the time I will once again have with my kids and my husband. They have had to make sacrifices for the sake of the store these past three years, and now I feel I want to be at home for them once again.”

The store will continue selling great items all the way through its closing on Nov. 22, she said. It has recently added more inventory to choose from.

“We are working hard to have a full inventory as long as possible,” Rojek said. “We have Halloween costumes, Christmas items, fall and winter apparel and shoes, baby gear, toys and books.”

She said Trendy Tots will start its clearance sales on Nov. 1, and they will run through Nov. 22.

While Rojek is sad to be closing, and she's feeling bittersweet, she's so thankful that Trendy Tots has been a part of the community for the past three years, and that her dream of opening the business has been so successful.

“I have taken away so much from opening and working at Trendy Tots,” she said. “I had a dream for over 13 years of opening a children's resale store and I did it. I will never have to look back and say, ‘What if?' I will never regret this awesome opportunity that God blessed me with.

“I have worked with some of the best people and have met wonderful consignors and customers and will always appreciate their kind words of encouragement and friendship. I hope I was a blessing to others and that our store helped families in the community as well. Most of all, I hope that I showed people, especially my children, that whatever your dream is, it really is possible if you set your mind to it and work hard.”

Rojek said she's hoping that, perhaps, her dream will live on. She said she's open to people who would be interested in purchasing the business.

“I would love to see my dream continue on if a sale of the store were to take place,” she said.
