Official: Homeless man found dead in Elgin
A homeless man was found dead in a wooded area in Elgin Saturday afternoon, fire officials said.
Paramedics were called about 1:30 p.m. about an unresponsive man, Elgin Battalion Chief Terry Bruce said. The man was found in a secluded area with no public access near Metra train tracks along Route 31, police said.
Authorities turned over the body of the man, who apparently had been deceased for “some time,” to the coroner's office, Bruce said.
Another homeless person apparently discovered the man near his tent, Bruce said.
Elgin police said there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death, which appeared to be of natural causes.
