Geneva Mayor Kevin Burns thought he did OK when he placed two large handfuls of shredded mozzarella on a pizza, for the benefit of the cameras filming him for the cable public-access TV show "Business Beat" in mid-September.

But the owner of Aurelio's Pizza stepped in, putting three more handfuls on, saying he would have gotten complaints about the pie.

"Somebody would have called and said, 'Who's the Irish guy who made this?' " quipped Burns, who also joked that, "For the sake of full disclosure," his parents eat there every other day.

Now it will be even easier to see such exchanges on all your computer and mobile devices, because the city has started a YouTube channel.

The channel will feature city council and committee of the whole meetings. It will also have "Officially Speaking," where aldermen and advisory committee members explain topics; "Geneva Works," about city departments and services; and "Business Beat."

People can subscribe to the channel to be notified when new videos are posted.

The channel is at https://www.youtube.com/user/CityofGenevaIL.

Simultaneous feeds of Channel 10 "Geneva Broadcast Network" programming will still be carried on the city's website, www.geneva.il.us, so you can continue to watch city council meetings live from the comfort of your couch.

The Instagram account handle is @CityofGenevaIL. It can be found at instagram.com/CityofGenevaIL.

Besides city officials posting photographs, the site will allow others to submit photos for sharing on the city's website plus Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

People who already have a public Instagram profile can share their photos simply by tagging the city in their pictures or mentioning the handle in a post or comment. If the Instagram account is set to "private," photos can be sent to the city through the "Instagram Direct" feature.
