Prairie Crossing Farm festival:

The Liberty Prairie Foundation is celebrating its inaugural fall festival at the Prairie Crossing Farm in Grayslake from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18. Free hayride tours will be offered and visitors can stock up on fall vegetables, order a free-range Thanksgiving turkey from Midnight Sun Farm and learn about Sandhill Family Farms' winter offerings and gift opportunities. Radical Root will offer local honey and Gretta's Goats will have handmade goat milk soap for sale. Visitors also can learn about the science of composting and fermentation, pastured poultry and pigs, and stroll through farm-related art. The festival will be in the parking lot of Prairie Crossing Farm's yellow farmhouse, 32400 N. Harris Road. Parking will be on both sides of Harris Road. Enter the farm through the Prairie Crossing subdivision off routes 45 or 137 and follow the farm event signs.
