Sente's support for firefighters vital to all

I want to take this time to respond to a previous letter published here. In it, someone made an unfounded attack on Rep. Carol Sente for receiving support from police and firefighting groups. As a firefighter, I want to tell you why.

We support Carol because she understands our needs and fights to represent us as public safety officials. She is the co-chair of the legislative fire caucus and looks out for us in Springfield. Attacking her for helping us is ridiculous and out of line. The public depends on us in times of need, and we depend on Carol, our friend and representative. She makes sure we have what we need to keep our neighborhoods safe.

Carol fights for middle-class families and groups like ours. She will be there to protect vital public safety services, and it is pretty apparent that Leslie Munger won't do the same. The choice is clear to me, and that is why I will be supporting Carol Sente on Nov. 4.
