Jack and Marlene Shales to be honored at Elgin Boys and Girls Club gala
On Friday, Oct. 17, the kind and generous supporters of Elgin area youth will come together to celebrate more than two decades of ensuring that all youth have the chance to realize their full potential and become healthy, successful and engaged leaders.
This year's annual Elgin Boys and Girls Club Gala will be held at Stonegate in Hoffman Estates and is expected to be our greatest event yet. In addition to celebrating Elgin area youth, we will honor Jack and Marlene Shales for not only their philanthropy, but also their unending graciousness to the Elgin community as a whole.
The funds raised will support the organization's mission to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as caring, productive, responsible citizens. The Boys & Girls Club of Elgin serves more than 2,000 Elgin area youth at seven club sites including the community built clubhouse on Dundee Avenue.
"This year's gala is centered on the idea that all youth deserve the opportunity to have a great future. Over half of our members' families are surviving at or below the poverty line and without the safety and guidance the club provides these youth would be left to what often is a grim future," said Cathy Malkani, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Elgin. "Our youth are our future and all deserve the chance to realize their full potential. For 21 years, we have been fortunate to have Elgin and surrounding communities as our friends and supporters and on Oct. 17 we will recognize their continued kindness and generosity as we continue our efforts to raise funds in support of our important mission."
This year's gala will include performances by talented club members that will entertain and delight through a combination of dance and other performance art.
