Police: Chicago man charged in hit-and-run; 1 hurt

A 28-year-old Chicago man has been charged in a hit-and-run crash that critically injured a pedestrian.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports Rolando Berrios-Rio was charged Sunday with a felony count of leaving the scene of an accident, as well as two misdemeanor counts. He was ordered held on $200,000 bond.

Prosecutors say he ran a red light on the city's North Side and hit a 20-year-old Glenview man who was hospitalized with bleeding on his brain. Another car hit Berrios-Rio's and the driver suffered minor injuries.

Prosecutors say Berrios-Rio parked down the block from the crash before walking back to see the pedestrian. They say he ran away and was arrested eight hours later.

Police say he admitted to hitting the pedestrian.

It wasn't immediately available if he has an attorney.
