The former home and farm of Illinois politician Adlai E. Stevenson II will formally be designated as a National Historic Landmark on Sunday. The 3 p.m. ceremony at the house, 25200 N. St. Mary's Road near Mettawa, is open to the public. Tours will be offered from 1 to 3 p.m. by the Lake County Forest Preserve District and the Adlai Stevenson Center on Democracy. The forest district owns the property today, and the center uses it for discussions on current events and other issues.
