Arlington Heights man charged with fourth DUI
An Arlington Heights man, who prosecutors say has three previous misdemeanor DUI convictions, faces new charges of felony aggravated DUI, leaving the scene of an accident and failing to reduce speed.
Cook County Judge Joseph Cataldo on Friday ordered David Dillingham, 32, held on $50,000 bail.
Prosecutors say Dillingham was involved in a collision Thursday at the intersection of Rand Road and Thomas Street. According to Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Gbenga Longe, the other driver followed Dillingham to his home, called police and gave them Dillingham's vehicle information, Longe said.
Arriving at the parking lot of the complex where Dillingham lives, officers noticed a vehicle with front-end damage and two bottles of vodka on the floor of the driver's side, Longe said. They said Dillingham had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, an unsteady gait and the odor of an alcoholic beverage.
Dillingham, who had misdemeanor DUI convictions in 2005, 2003 and 2000, could face up to seven years in prison if convicted on this latest charge, Longe said.
He next appears in court on Oct. 24.
