Join 'Run With the Law' Oct. 11 in South Elgin

On Saturday, Oct. 11, the South Elgin Police Department invites you to "Run With the Law" in support of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Illinois.

This community event aims to increase both funds and awareness for Special Olympics Illinois by joining forces with schools.

Join forces with your school resource officer and/or local law enforcement to raise awareness of Special Olympics Illinois athletes and their accomplishments.

All participants collect donations to run with law enforcement members, who will be carrying the Flame of Hope, with all proceeds directly benefiting Special Olympics Illinois.

While each "Run" event is unique, the distance of each run will be about 1 or 2 miles. Law enforcement, carrying the torch, will lead the group. All participants will receive the official "I Run With the Law" T-shirt.

Registration for this event starts at 11:45 a.m. and the run begins at 12:45 p.m. Participants will be running from the Butera parking lot, 1175 W. Spring St. to the South Elgin High School, 760 E. Main St.

For more information, interested participants can visit soill.org/run-with-the-law/ or call South Elgin Police Detective Jim Creighton at (847) 289-3760, ext. 3601.
