Digital Media Lab opens Oct. 7 at Gail Borden

Gail Borden Public Library, 270 N. Grove Ave. in Elgin, is hoping that local teens are ready to create as the state-of-the-art Digital Media Lab is formally opening on Tuesday, Oct. 7. There will be demo videos, fun activities, snacks and short tours that evening from 6 to 7 :30 p.m.

Teens will be able to record their first album, direct their own films and master their craft in the editing suite. There are video cameras, sound and lighting equipment and a green screen available to use.

To enable teens to create all manner of footage, they will go through an orientation prior to using the lab. Trained Gail Borden staff also will be on hand when the lab is open.

The lab will be open from 3 p.m. until the library closes on weekdays during school days. The library closes at 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 6 p.m. Fridays. On the weekends, the lab will be open from noon until 6 p.m on Saturday and until 5 p.m. on Sunday. On no-school days, the lab will open at noon and be open until the building closes.

The lab is located on the second floor of the main library, right next to Studio 270, the library's teen space.

The Digital Media Lab was made possible by a generous donation by the Meadows Family. Visit www.gailborden.info
