Rolling Meadows man charged with delivering cocaine

A Rolling Meadows man who police say tried to sell 99 grams of cocaine to an undercover Lake County sheriff's police officer has been charged with manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance.

Juan Perez, 40, could face up to 30 years in prison if convicted of the class X felony.

Cook County Judge Joseph Cataldo ordered Perez, of the 2300 block of Algonquin Road, held on $70,000 bail Wednesday.

On Monday, Perez met the undercover officer at a Palatine restaurant where he turned over the cocaine in exchange for about $4,900, Cook County Assistant State's Attorney David Shin said.

Perez, who has no criminal background, next appears in court on Oct. 24.
